Common Projects Men's vs. Women's Sizing: What Changes?
Share
Men's and women's Common Projects listings can look nearly identical in photographs, yet their size ranges and retailer conversion labels differ. That makes cross-shopping tempting—and easy to get wrong if you compare only the US number shown beside an EU size.
The most reliable comparison starts with the exact product, not the gender label.
Read the complete option label
In the current Achilles Studio catalog data, men's styles run from EU 39 to EU 47, with US references from 6 to 14. Women's styles run from EU 34 to EU 42, with US references from 4 to 12. These are the paired labels supplied for the current listings. They are not a promise that an EU size will convert the same way in every brand, season, or retailer.
When comparing two listings, use the EU size as one reference and the physical insole measurements as another. Do not match a men's US number directly to a women's US number.
Length is only one part of fit
Even when two shoes have a similar internal length, their width, instep volume, heel shape, collar, and pattern can feel different. Product family matters too: an Achilles Low, Achilles Mid, and Retro Low should each be evaluated as its own model.
If you are considering a size from a different category than you normally buy, request:
- Full insole length in centimeters
- Forefoot width at the widest point
- A clear image of the interior size label
- Confirmation of the exact style code and color code
Compare those measurements with a sneaker that fits you well. This is more useful than relying on a generic conversion chart.
Avoid the three common mistakes
First, do not treat “unisex” as meaning every size has the same shape. Second, do not assume a size recommendation from the Achilles Low automatically applies to the Mid or Retro Low. Third, do not order solely from memory of a dress-shoe size; formal shoes and sneakers can use very different shapes and fit preferences.
A better home fitting process
Try the shoes later in the day with the socks you intend to wear. Lace them evenly and check both feet, since one is often slightly larger. Walk indoors on a clean surface and test a gentle downward step. Your toes should not strike the front, the heel should not lift excessively, and the widest part of your foot should not feel compressed.
Do this before removing tags, marking the outsole, or creating deep creases. The current return policy—not a general sizing article—determines whether a pair remains eligible for return.
If you are between categories
Use the product with the closest measurements and the shape that suits your foot, not the label you are accustomed to seeing. If the necessary measurements are unavailable, wait and ask rather than turning a premium purchase into a sizing experiment.
